We had a Maine Coon who used to look at me in the eyes before jumping on my lap. No question about it: he was looking at my eyes, like hey I'm looking at you. On one hand it was creepy and on the other hand it was cool. None of our other cats did this. Anyone else run into this?

(6,270 posts)Oh, the close-up stare doesn't work because you are asleep? (3 am)
OK then . . . he escalates to soft paw pats on my face, if that doesn't work, the claws slowly come into play.
Pure evil, that boy!
But 3 am, ok then, toilet time anyway.
The joys of having a bossy cat and an old bladder.

(27,291 posts)Madoc will sit and stare at me and we have stare-downs. Arthur will stare at me until I look back, and then he gives me slow blinks.
Even Carys, who is finally coming out of her feral stage, will look me in the eye.

(22,767 posts)used to lay on my pillow every night and stare deep into my eyes until we both fell asleep. She did that almost her entire life. I miss that and her so much.
