(31,437 posts)Margot and Linus. They were littermates, together since birth.
Linus died recently. They had exhausted all possible forms of help.
My son feels that Margot saw it coming. She seems to be adjusting.
I am sorry. Lavish Raven with love.

(782 posts)Our Sophie died in December, and Purrcy has been losing weight, not eating well. Will only eat soft food. Vet says heart, lungs and teeth ok. He's almost 17 and they had been together for 15. However, Wednesday he gets a new little sister. Just might help.

(92,732 posts)That she sees how sad you are and is trying to comfort you. She knew it was coming and knows where Charlotte went and surely feels the separation too. But maybe you both just need to focus on each other for a little while.

(385 posts)that grief when my Mirena passed on. Her brother Terrence howled for months and stood looking down the walkway "hoping" to see her approach. When I lost my wife, I felt EXACTLY as Terrence acted. Grief is a universal for all who love. It is the great mystery of life and love and loss and how that creates new meaning and drives us to enjoy the very things we feel we have lost. I am sorry, Raven. Only time will heal this but being around for Raven now, holding her and giving the affection she needs so dearly from her friend who can no longer be physically present is a supreme kindness. For me, the grief of an animal is almost inconsolable...I cannot bear to watch their suffering. Peace Raven, RIP Charlotte and peace, strength and understanding for you.

I have had many cats grow old and die, in my 75 years. It is always horrible, no matter how you handle it. Of course Raven is crying for Charlotte. And of course you are crying for Charlotte. It is also horrible when people you love die. And the pain never goes away; you feel sorrow all your life for all those you have lost. But also you have the wonderful memories of the love you all shared, and the sorrow is the price you pay for those wonderful memories. And the love you shared stays true forever! Charlotte really lived, and she really loved you and Raven, and you and Raven really loved her! And that is a triumph over the darkness! So give extra cuddles to Raven, and share your memories of Charlotte!
