Was gonna go in to high school yesterday to jam with kids and i noticed my troop didnt eat his pill in scrambled eggs and he was hacking hard trouble breathing the meds I give him and Mr big paws to take their vetprofin for arthritis. Then tried to give him his pill in peanut butter bread nope I felt his stomach he was bloated I called boys at their jobs at grocery store you got to come and help me.
We loaded him in 18 pathfinder folded the one seat down so we could love him as he rode in the back. Shit hold on had to run in and get a pillow for trooper to rest his head on stress and high strung emotions.
He passed in the exam table not alone we were with him 18 was looking into his eyes he peed his bladder released they were prepping him for blood work and x rays.
This morning were laughing joking saying Boog he probably at least pissed twice on the rainbow bridge and then he saw your mom he probably said lady where have you been Ive missed you. WTB what the biscuits here I thought man lost you.
Boog came into this world 5/3/09 hooked up with boy 7/10/09 put his puppy ass down in the kitchen that first day and it was on. We always said his theme song was the Scorpions rock you like a hurricane that day he was on the loose Zooming oh look I have a KAT I will chase you and maul you Kat.
His choice of career was being a boog totally in love with his boy from the go and also a veteran of many contacts in backyard with skunks seriously a serial killer level of skunk murders many baths yet he do it again and again.
Besides being in solid loving relationship with his pack especially boy ,although with Nanna my wifes mother they had a love to you aggravate the shit out of me dog Nannas words many times . Boog was like hey youre my Nanna I love you yet couple times I left a load in the guest room was just my way of saying shouldnt you be going home soon.
Boogs education was he was a failed candidate of obedience training at the parent teacher dog training meeting when he was being suspended she said he needs in house one on one training I can do it I have a program of two to three weeks are you both interested.
In the car on way home mister is leaning on my wife his body between the seats he was probably then eighteen months old I love you lady. I told Liz Im not comfortable with the shock collar in house program so boog said hey Ill obedience train myself Im a stable genius.
Some of his more memorable achievements which he had many are eating Nanas birthday cake that Liz baked eating a pan of brownies for boys first grade birthday party oh eating a whole pizza at maybe seven months ooh I smell pizza. Chairs were not pushed in on dining room table it was gone.
Oh here is a memory were jamming maybe three four years ago and were running amps through surge protector. And he shocks himself we didnt know why at first he cried then did it again upon investigation Boy discovers piece of hot dog bun on surge protector under amp cords.
He was an original we always would say if Mr Big paws the golden retriever best boy was human he would be a Astro physicist.
Then the Boog if he were human either John Belushi character from animal house or straight Danny Devitos character Frank from tv show its alway sunny in Philadelphia and by default that made boy Charlie Kelley they were a inseparable pair.
In closing 18 picked out a nice urn for mister will put him next to Liz yea lots of tears yesterday but mister would not want us to sad although were gonna miss him.

(12,175 posts)When some proud Son of Man returns to Earth,
Unknown to Glory but upheld by Birth,
The sculptor's art exhausts the pomp of woe,
And storied urns record who rests below:
When all is done, upon the Tomb is seen
Not what he was, but what he should have been.
But the poor Dog, in life the firmest friend,
The first to welcome, foremost to defend,
Whose honest heart is still his Master's own,
Who labours, fights, lives, breathes for him alone,
Unhonour'd falls, unnotic'd all his worth,
Deny'd in heaven the Soul he held on earth:
While man, vain insect! hopes to be forgiven,
And claims himself a sole exclusive heaven.
Oh man! thou feeble tenant of an hour,
Debas'd by slavery, or corrupt by power,
Who knows thee well, must quit thee with disgust,
Degraded mass of animated dust!
Thy love is lust, thy friendship all a cheat,
Thy tongue hypocrisy, thy heart deceit!
By nature vile, ennobled but by name,
Each kindred brute might bid thee blush for shame.
Ye! who behold perchance this simple urn,
Pass on, it honors none you wish to mourn.
To mark a friend's remains these stones arise;
I never knew but oneand here he lies.

(4,621 posts)Ive followed your posts about that sweet, wild pup for so long and your love for him radiated through your writing. After my husband passed my Mollydog was my lifeline, but we had to say goodbye to her only months later. Our fur dogs sure leave a hole, dont they. But as you said, we have to focus on the joy and love they brought us. Thank you for sharing that joy and love with us. I wish you peace.

(1,230 posts)My condolences to you and yours, Duncanpup.
Thank you for sharing the story of Boogs passing, and his reunion with Liz at the rainbow bridge.🌈💫
You had me crying and laughing at the same time.
Its a lot for you and the boys, losing Liz and Boog one after the other.
You are all strong and brave and dearly loved.
Youll walk through this valley of the shadow of death together.
Mama loved the 23rd Psalm.
On her deathbed, she asked me to tell it at her memorial service. Through is the important word, she told me for the ziggedy-eighth time. We all walk through that valley of the shadow of death at times in our lives. But this Psalm does not say we stay in that lonesome valley, it says we walk through it. We find a way to keep going, walking as the shadow begins to lift.
Im holding you and yours in the light and much love, Duncanpup,
and sending sweet Shalom.

(4,635 posts)Whoever decided they had no souls was absolutely wrong, I think. Every family where they are loved and adored knows better. Large or small, each of our doggies is the ultimate explorer, friend, and companion. Grieve not, Duncanpup; Boog's esteemed purpose with us has been fulfilled and now, on crossing, he rests happy and whole among the stars from which he was first sent. He likely has many stories of his own about us humans to tell his newfound buds (oh-oh) that even we would find astounding as to how well he knew us and then helped us, each one, toward our inner best peace and managed us through our most angry worst while remaining such a mysterious gift in our lives. My sympathies to you and all those that loved the Boog.

(18,602 posts)I expect Boog and Liz are swapping stories, he is getting the most special pets from his lady and she is getting big, wet, sloppy but wonderful kisses. Family reunited!
Boog has brought us all such joy over the years, immediately opening an OP with Boog in the title ahead of all other OPs to give us laughter and joy before facing the rest of the day. Lots of hugs to Big Paws and Duncan as they remember the antics of their big brother but are comforted knowing he is not alone.

Rest in light, good boy.

(250 posts)It has been years, but I still look for our last doggie poking her nose through the fence when we pull into the driveway. I've loved hearing your stories about Boog and your family. From your eulogy, the best part for me, he must have been a tough pup to keep going after skunks. I am so glad he is going to be next to Liz (Mom). Hope you are coping as best as you can be. I shed tears over many fur youngsters, who lived long lives 15 to 18 years, cats and dogs. Condolences to you and your family.

(60,951 posts)...Mrs. Hatrack here, taking control of Hatrack's account for a few minutes.
There are so many people here on DU who love you and your (human and furry) family, even though we've never met you and probably never will. I'm so sorry you lost Boog, but so glad you had him in your life. He sounds like an absolute joy and maniac, in the best way.
I kinda think that Boog needed to stick around for a while to comfort you and your family after Liz passed away, but then he needed to go be with her since he loved her so much. So glad you will put his ashes next to her so he can continue to keep you all connected and so you all can continue to enjoy the memories and funny and heartwarming stories they both were part of.
You and your family gave him a wonderful life, full of love, and you wrote a lovely tribute to him. He was lucky to have you as his hoo-mans.
Love and hugs to you, Duncanpup!
