Related: About this forumOne more update: Post first vet visit, first bath (She was SO GOOD) and first doses of medicine.
She was SO calm and cooperative during the bath. ALL of the other kidcats I've had to bathe were slasher nightmares. And she's not too fond of the medications, which is understandable.
Suffice it to say it's been a traumatic day for this baby. I'm going to let her sleep until 11 when I'll see if she will eat some slurry.

(27,291 posts)I might give it a try. She's the calmest, most cooperative kitten I've ever seen.

As sweet and affectionate as Ember usually is, she turns fiercely feral over vet exams, shots, claw clipping and even brushing. I have to give her a calming med and spray her carrier with Feliway before her appointments.

(27,291 posts)Well, until I feel it's time to have her around the kidcats.
I was letting her wrestle with my hand and she got really playful. Now she's attacking a whiffle ball with a bell in the middle. She's trying to pick it up with her teeth.
And her eyes already look better. I remember how fast Arthur's litter mates eyes cleared up. Of course, I'll keep applying the drops for the full 7 days. She's not fond of the process but I'm becoming pretty adept at the application.

(24,408 posts)within a couple weeks, she'll still be young enough to learn from them. Plus, she has already had a chance to observe adult cats in feral colony.

(27,291 posts)I'm going to take my laptop and sit in the room with her, for a while. When I was in there earlier, she was patty pawing my face and kissing my nose
Tomorrow I'm going to do the same thing I did to introduce Madoc and Gryff to Arthur and his littermates. I put a storm door window in the bedroom doorway so that they could see each other. The boys never tried to jump over the window, which kind of surprised me. But I was always present to keep an eye on them and 'd pick them up for the boys to sniff.
When I finally brought those kittens out to the den, there were just a few hisses and gently swats from Madoc, but that ended fairly soon.

(27,291 posts)The funny one is Arthur. He's the only one who seems to be reacting to the kitten. He's an affectionate boy but today it's over the top! And when I'm in the room with the kitten, he's reaching beneath the door.
I'm hoping this will be an easy introduction. I'll keep them separated but let them all have a good sniff.
