It looks like Madoc has come to terms with the latest arrival

He's still giving her some occasional and very soft swats but there is zero hissing or growling. I think he's finally figured out she's also a cat.

Carys has taken over as the #1 playmate. They wrestle around but nothing super aggressive. Arthur and Gryff do a lot of observing and some playing. Maybe Carys senses their relationship. Maybe it's because she's still just a kitten, too.

I'll put her upstairs while I'm at my therapist appointment because I'll be gone for about 90 minutes, but I'll bring her back down while I hurry and mow the back lot, before it starts to rain. That usually takes just a little over 30 minutes to finish.

And I'm just super erring on the side of caution because I really think it's going to be fine.

It wouldn't take long for her to be accepted.

Carys probably takes to Sian for both reasons you mentioned. It's an interesting thing to observe, they way each newbie is also a relative of one of the already there crowd. It might be that the closest relative takes to the newbie most because they somehow recognize the relationship.

Like we'll ever know for sure.

Your plans for the day sound good, it's till early and you don't want to have a bad experience looking for her when you get home if she choose to hide.

I put up a baby gate, which she immediately started to climb. So I hung a slick, cardboard yard sign over the gate. I can easily get over it and the kidcats can jump it.

Meanwhile I'll do a check around the house to make sure there's nothing dangerous to her (like chemical cleaners NOT behind cupboard doors) and then see how she does. I'll still keep her separate at feeding time so that the big kids don't steal her food.

And yes, it’s going to be, and it is, really fine. You made this, and you do beautiful work, my dear.
That love, that concern, that caring, and that kindness ripples across DU and into our lives like when a stone is tossed into the lake.
