There's a bit of a situation going on with the ferals. A DOG!!

I don't know if my neighbors maybe got a dog to chase away the feral cats or if it is a loose animal. I can count on one hand how many loose dogs I've seen in this neighborhood.

Anyway, it's barking up a storm where the ferals shelter in the neighbor's yard. When it sees me it barks and jumps but doesn't run at me. It doesn't look like it is tethered. Actually, when I first heard the barking it sounded as if it was coming from further up the street so I'm guessing it's a loose dog. I don't go anywhere NEAR strange dogs.

So I've brought Dewi inside the porch and put him in the playpen. I'll turn on the ceiling fan and go sit with him. I'll also keep checking on things. The rest of the kidcats found a bag of catnip so they are all zoned out.

More bad weather is on the way so I figure the dog will give up and go away.

Hope this is just a temporary situation. Polly Hennessey Jul 2023 #1
I still hear barking but it is less frequent and sounds a little farther away. Siwsan Jul 2023 #2

Now the ferals not only must contend with “iffy” weather but now a barking dog. Glad Dewi is safely away from possible danger. Dylan, Skittish, and Tabby will be ok.

It would have shocked me if my neighbor had gotten a dog because she really dislikes animals. Yet she takes no steps to discourage the ferals from denning beneath her rickety deck.

I'll keep Dewi inside until I see some of the other ferals out and about. He seems quite content. The ceiling fan makes the porch pretty comfortable. Hopefully he will fall asleep.
