Related: About this forumHere is the little survivor, Tudor
I saw the mom by the John Deere so I brought the kittens out. At first she seemed indifferent. Then she approached them but started to walk away, again. Finally she turned around and went back to them and the reaction of the kittens was pretty special.
Mom is under the John Deere but 3 of the kittens are out wandering. As soon as Tudor and Rhian saw me, they came bumbling up, meowing up a storm. I took the opportunity to get a better photo of this most special little boy.
I keep flashing back to what he looked like when I found him and I feel myself tearing up, again. He does seem fully recovered but I will keep an eye on him.

(27,291 posts)No rain in the forecast but it will be in the high 50's. If they aren't beneath that John Deere by sunset, I might just bring them in.
Tomorrow will be warm and sunny so they will be outside and I'll target the back yard for yardwork.

(27,291 posts)I thought he was so frail but he proved me wrong. That little guy is a tough fighter. He probably got very tired of me constantly checking to make sure he was still breathing.
It's heartbreaking to think about how long he was out there, slowly fading away, and why he didn't stick by his sisters.

(27,291 posts)It's the one my nephew made out of an old cooler chest.
Bronwen and Tudor are still outside so I moved the bed close to the shelter. I also gave them some slurry and the gobbled it up. I might make more if I don't see them in the shelter, hopefully nursing, within the next hour.
I don't know of mom cats might sometimes 'reject' kittens who aren't fully healthy. Bronwen has issues with her eyes and I'm cleaning them throughout the day. I found some eye drops that I used on Sian so I might try those on her.
And Tudor is just so small.
So I will remain vigilant.
