Has anyone given their cat CBD oil? We have a very sweet cat with high anxiety.

He licks his fur off & meows constantly. To get him to eat we pretty much have to stand in the room with him. He is 3 y/o & we got him as a rescue kitten. We have another rescue cat we got as a kitten that is 2. They get along & play well with no hissing. He also gets along well with our 12 y/o dog. I am considering trying CBD oil to see if it helps his anxiety.

If that doesn't work you could ask your vet for gabapentin. Ocelot II Aug 2023 #2

Much harder to give to my finicky cat than my dog who will eat just about anything. Usually I can dispense it in this stuff. This is also a good way to get her to eat when she goes all picky eater—I dribble it over her food.

Regarding CBD oil. I don't know if this is still the case but a few years back Amazon didn't allow full spectrum CBD so unless you can verify that's no longer the case don't buy from them. I've found NuLeaf Naturals out of Denver to be a great product with fast shipping.

I do 2 drops for kitty & 3-5 for the pup.

It's often given to cats with anxiety problems. My cat's vet gave me some so I could groom my cat without being shredded.

take it without getting into a big cat fight & getting shredded. I thought I'd try something more natural before resorting to pharmaceuticals so as not affect his personality and make him a zombie.

and it acts as a prophylactic. It works; the episodes have subsided so far.
I have in the past given it as an end-of-life care to increase appetite, pain and to ameliorate fear and anxiety. It worked wonders for my cats and dogs with overall debilitating conditions. I had this on hand left over from my sweet cat who had end-stage kidney failure and from another cat who had dreadful mouth cancer. In both of those conditions, the kitties had great relief from the veterinarian formula.

We buy them off the shelf at our Vet's office. You can also get them from Amazon. They are for cats or dogs and no prescription required. They also are not very expensive. Thet work well with our two small dogs. We give some to our dogs before they go to the groomer, and the groomer says she can tell the difference. They are much calmer.
