I'm so glad I put on a raincoat and took a tour, looking for kittens

I knew there were kittens in the shelter and that I had seen Tudor was with his mom.

First I found Rhys. He just doesn't want to stay in the shelter, preferring to hunker down beneath a shrub. Sorry. He's got to come inside.

Then I heard that same distressed meowing that I heard Monday morning. I looked everywhere there wasn't a shelter and saw nothing. When I came back around to the deck area, I saw Tudor, again soaked to the bone, but at least moving and meowing. Well, more like screaming. Maybe for me. His mom was in the shelter, making no move to bring him back inside. I scooped him up, suffering some rather vulgar (I suspect) verbal abuse and a near miss claw slash from the mom. I didn't care. I have no doubts that Tudor might have some lingering issues from his near death experience. He seems strong enough but why the hell does his mom keep booting him out!

I patted him dry and gave him such snuggles. Now he's in the pay pen with Rhys and I'm going to heat up a little goat milk to mix with some pate. I'll probably move my laptop to the porch and bring a blanket. It's rather chilly out there.

Being a Kitten Charmer is hard work but the rewards make it worth it.

How do you ever find time for your chores? I would want to spend all day with a pile of kittens on my lap!

Bad cat mom. I am imagining her smoking a cigarette and waiting on a rumpled bed for her next boyfriend.

Maybe because he's the runt?

Looks like you've got to keep him.

and when they reject a kitten, there's usually a good reason that kitten won't survive the tough life of a feral. They concentrate their own limited energy on the kittens they know will survive.

The problems might be reversible or so minor a doting human wouldn't notice them, but they're there.

Tudor might just be adventurous, wanting to explore the world but too stupid to come in out of the rain. That would do it for momcat.

Although she seemed to be taking such good care of him, BEFORE it started to rain.

Fortunately that shelter is in the garden that's right next to the house so I can keep an eye on thing through the window. And I spend a lot of time outside.

One way or another, I am going to fight to keep Tudor healthy and growing. Madoc was a runt but you'd never know it when you see him.

The rain has ended and the next few nights will be pretty cool. As long as he is in that shelter, he will be fine. Of course, I will be checking.
