anyone have experience with cushing disease with dog

Spilled water on computer last night and now shift doesn't work so no capital.

so 800 later with vet i am told dogs probably has beginning cushing. didn't get lots of info but that not painful and not curable, medicine doesn't really show to work, doesn't extend life. i read on net that dogs have average about two yrs but could be up to four.

does anyone have experience with cushing

4. i read for about an hour. wow. costs just go up and up and no real conclusions.

it did give me a lot of knowledge what to watch for and different options. i think the cost of an ultra sound is a good idea giving an idea if it is something else. thanks.

2. Cushing's disease

We had two male dogs die from Cushing’s. They were medium size - about 21 - 25 pounds. Finnegan was a 7 yr old German Spitz when he passed. Flanagan was a 9 yr old American Eskimo. Flanagan came to live with us when Finnegan was first diagnosed. He managed to keep Finnegan active for a time. They were such good buddies. We now have a 6 lb., 8 yr old Maltese/Pomeranian mix. He’s on special weight control, diabetes control food. We watch for excessive thirst, difficulty urinating, hair loss and bloating. None of our larger dogs, 30 - 35 lbs. had Cushing’s.

3. Our dog had similar symtpoms but

Blood test did not confirm.

He died 3 mos. later...we think it was brain cancer.

6. kid you not, day after visit he has a grape size lump in neck.

potbelly, enlarged liver, thirst/lack of control peeing which he never had issue. but not a definite diagnosis and wonder if something else. going to get a ultra sound, vet says that is a good predictor and could show other issues. but i like the vet cause honest about effectiveness of drugs and consideration of cost

7. Yes, our vet was good to give us options.

At different "price points". We were still in diagnosis phase. His symtoms evolved. We never got a diagnosis. It was a 3 mo. spiral. He was only 8. So painful..good dog. 😢

After a few months we brought home a new rescue..it helps...

11. It's a lot of work

getting this rescue trained.

He's 2 yo, 70 lbs., Border Collie/Lab mix, UN-NEUTERED!

The Humane Society lost their vet so I got him before he was neutered. It's getting done tomorrow.

He's a sweetheart. Testosterone is POISON!

12. what a high energy of smart in that mix and two. lots of work. my son

got a rescue and the most loving dog i have seen though horrible skittish especially for a big dog, all legs with lots of hound. not sure her mix cause she is a tall hound, i thought they were shorter. i am talking only rescue as in a period of time for a safe place.

8. Long ago

I lost a dog to Cushing's. She lived with it for about 2 years, and it certainly wasn't "beginning" when she was diagnosed. I don't think she suffered at all, so that's the good part.
