Related: About this forumIt was a lovely, lovely Caturday #1.
All of the kittens, except for Snowdon, were in the back yard with me. Even Dot was hanging around and playing. I'm not giving up on Snowdon.
Dylan and Merlin were especially snuggly. Dylan is no longer satisfied with just sitting on my lap. He now stretches up so his face is next to mine and he purrs in my ear. Merlin also likes to sit in the chair right next to me. We have some lovely conversations. The neighbors probably think I'm crazy.
The weather forecast shows the next 4 days will be scorchers so I'm bringing out some extra bowls for water. I might also see how they react to a couple of ice cubes.

Crazy cat ladies are great!!
A crazy cat lady lives down the road from me, she and my wife have conversations about everything -- cats, grandchildren, birds, quilting, flowers, gardens, books we are reading, books we have read, history, philosophy. She has a special little homemade flag that she hangs on the post under her mailbox to signal when she is baking chocolate chip cookies, I watch for the flag. She lost her husband about six years ago and now she shoots groundhogs with his .30-06 rifle -- blows them to pieces.
She has 8 cats who live in and around the house, garage, and barn. She feeds a few neighborhood ferals and cares for ferals that are up for adoption.
She also has four peacocks who get along fairly well with the cats except for an occasional hissing and squawking complete with the male peacocks spreading their tails.

(14,709 posts)had groundhogs in our yard for years, until this year. We always liked seeing them every year because it meant that Spring was here. Occasionally, some years there would be babies and they were fun to watch. They really werent destructive, but then we have no garden-only flowers in pots on the deck. One year we caught a couple of the babies in our flower pots a couple times and just went out and they left. I find the deer and tree squirrels to be much more destructive, but I must say, I do enjoy the wildlife in my backyard.
