My neighbor, who runs a cat rescue picked up a feral kitten the other day while doing her feeding route. She put him in a carrier, but by the time she got home, he was gone. She surmised that he was either under the seat or hidden under the dash. Fast forward two days and during the night the cat food has been eaten and water drank. He's too smart of a kitten to fall for the trap now, so the only other choice will be to wait him out. There is also evidence that he's been lounging on the dash at night as well.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

(24,145 posts)I had two closed in the garage once. One escaped out into the shrubbery. I used the other kitten as bait to lure him back in.
Her little guy is probably getting pretty lonesome by now.

(92,842 posts)Whether you do or not, perhaps try to put the food outside the car and soon into a trap with the food inside it. Safest in a garage or enclosed place where it can feel safe enough to leave the car. Maybe disguise the trap somehow. That's the best I can come up with unless you know a "whisperer" who can mimic the "mom call" and talk it out into the open and maybe to the person doing the calling.

(3,251 posts)My neighbor was able to retrieve the kitten under the dash while she was eating. Now it's off to the vet for a quick checkup and on to a foster home.
