Related: About this forumI was late feeding the ferals, this morning, and their reaction was hilariously cute
I did my early morning weekly Kroger run and took a little longer than I anticipated. Once home I wanted to get the frozen food taken care of so instead of a 7am feeding it was more like 7:30.
The instant I opened the door to the back porch I could see an EXPLOSION of little furry kittens jumping up and DASHING to the deck. I was being extra cautious to avoid another tumble so Merlin took advantage and ran inside. After I wrangled him back outside the whole clouter of kittens were frantically running around my ankles, making navigation even more difficult because I also started laughing.
I FINALLY got their bowls filled and then had to round up Tegan and Rhian who had, apparently, gotten confused in the chaos.
Meanwhile the adults were patiently waiting for me to take care of them.
Quite a start to my morning

(92,842 posts)Excitement early in the day. Is this the largest group of kittens you've had in your care all at once?

(27,300 posts)And the first I've left outdoors with their mothers. It's less work but more worry.

(92,842 posts)In the long run, though, it may facilitate their capture and spay/neuter situation. I hope that will be an end result as well as finding homes for them at some point... the kittens at least.

(120,046 posts)Reminded me of last year, when my two girl cats had six kittens at the same time. At breakfast time there would be nine felines swarming around my feet, vocalizing. Opening the refrigerator would result in having all of the little ones invading the interior. Getting them all out again was a long, trying endeavor.

(6,861 posts)I used to have dozens of ferals and now after getting together with a TNR group, my kitten level is just one or two every once in a while. We still feed quite a few tipped ear ferals, though.
