Reason our last two family members the Boog the chocolate lab and Mr Big paws the golden. Boog was thirteen he passed this year and Mr Big paws was fifteen he also passed this year.
We still have Dunc the three year old Golden and goldens are just so into people pleasing so in tune with your moods emotions. This morning I walk through living room and Dunc is stretched out next to my mother in law as they both are on couch as grandma does her crossword puzzle.
Dunc is like I love nanna man its like a full time job were a couple nanna and me. 85 pounds of pure love and huge heart Dunc.

(34,826 posts)First of all, I love all dogs too.
But I find that its so true what you said about the Retrievers. Maybe because 2 out of 3 of ours have been Labs. But whenever I encounter a Lab somewhere else I feel like I am on the same wavelength. What does that say about me, am I a knucklehead? Lol

(17,757 posts)Dogs make better people than people do. My Black Lab/Chow chow rescue is lying within reach of me; she is a part of the family as much as I am. (She is also better behaved than I am) I do love my "Baby Girl."

(24,616 posts)owners. I was always partial to pure-bred Siamese cats, but now I'm, a dyed in the wool rescue cat mixed breed proponent.
I, too, have seldom met a dog I didn't like. The only exception I ever remember is a mixed lab/pit bull dog owned by a neighbor, who would growl fiercely, lay back his ears, and bare his teeth at me even when his owner was present. I never dared touch him. Other neighbors swore they'd shoot the dog on sight if he ever entered their property, He was a truly frightening animal. Previously, that neighbor had an enormous German shepherd that I loved. He got rid of him because he wanted a dangerous dog to scare away potential crooks or predators.

(9,703 posts)My folks didnt like pets at all and DH and I have always had cats, and I dont want to upset them by getting a dog. But my daughter has a lab and a tiny cockapoo. The lab, Lucy, is exactly like a lab should be - laid back, loving, great with the kids. She loves her grandma and rubs her body against me like a cat. The tiny dog bosses her around.
