Here's the medical update on Ember

She is definitely undersized and a little underweight. That doesn't surprise me. She has a good appetite but until I brought her inside, she had to compete with the other kittens for food. Well, unless I was out there to make sure she got her fill.

She also has a slight heart murmur. As for her eye, one cornea has a scratch. Hopefully that will resolve. BUT her overall prognosis is good.

So, I'm glad I brought her in when I did and wish I had done so even sooner. Shortly after I brought her in, I could already see a change in her weight and her energy/activity level, which really increased. I can't beat myself up about the timing. She is safe and sound and will only get stronger, from this point on.

This might explain why I lost Tudor. He was even smaller than Ember and maybe also had a heart murmur.

I'll talk with her mom again, tomorrow.

But at least Ember is healthier and stronger. She will be ok as an indoor cat with medical care.

And she will have company with Cinder and Smoke.

3. The vet wanted to know when she was born so I had to dig through photos for a date

Naturally I came across photos of Tudor and my heart broke all over again. He was the sweetest little boy.

And that she has a home where she'll e cared for is the best you can do for her. You've done it, I hope you celebrate some!

5. It's possible with her improved nutrition that heart murmur could resolve.

Also, young human mammals frequently have a slight murmur too, and most of them grow out of it. Hope this helps
