Related: About this forumI set up the mini came in the enclosed porch.
This is nice because it isn't motion controlled. I can just check in. I also refocused the outdoor camera to a level that SHOULD show any more deer wandering through. That one is motion activated.
Still not seeing any of the adult ferals but al of the kittens are present and accounted for. And my medication kicked in, so I'm much less stressed. I decided I'll start pulling up the ends of the carpets, just to give us all a head start tomorrow morning.
It's going to be interesting to see how the kidcats react to the lack of carpet. Well, there will be area rugs.

(5,687 posts)that would take care of all that carpet pulling for you.
Mollie is some kind of big old hound that can't leave anything like a carpet or rug alone, if she's not watched constantly while she's out of her crate. She got the bath mat out of the bathroom and was systematically destroying it in the kitchen when I caught her the other day. I wasn't the one who was supposed to be watching her either.

(10,784 posts)Carpet was my industry of choice for about 30 years. Mostly in carpet cleaning but I also sold and installed.
Please wear a mask when tearing up the stuff, especially if it has been down for over 10 years. The amount of dust is unbelievable and it is a very fine dust. It also may include disintegrated pad dust. Not good to breathe.
When we used to remove old carpet we first cut it into 3 foot widths when it was still attached to the tack strip, then roll up those sections and tie up. The size make it easier to remove from the home instead of struggling with bigger pieces. It also make a cleaner removal since most everything is rolled inside.
Have fun
were doing the same thing in the spring.
Edited to add.. tack strip is like a thorn bush.. watch out.

(27,291 posts)It was old, fragile shag carpeting. We did wear masks.
I was just prying up some of the tack board that's next to the bedroom. Ugh.
Funny story. When we pulled the den carpet and had it all tied up, my brother realized he couldn't find his phone, AND it was low on power. So, yes, we unrolled until we found it.
Before my aunt died, I told her my plans for the carpet. This was once her house. She was VERY upset and instructed me to donate that carpet to her church so they could find someone who needed it. Admittedly it was very expensive carpet when it was first installed. Ugly as hell but expensive. 40 some years later (my aunt and uncle NEVER redecorated) the carpet is nothing more than trash worthy, although I'll use some to make scratching posts and cat bed liners.
