Related: About this forumI woke up in the middle of a kidcat sandwich
It was about 1:30. One one side, Madoc was curled up and pressed tight against me. On the other Sian and Arthur had me 'penned in'. Gryff was across the room and who knows where Carys was sleeping. She's back to being semi reclusive. During the day she sits on the cat perch in the den and watches me. At night she disappears and sometimes doesn't even come out for treats.
Madoc often sleeps on the bed, a few inches away from me. Sian hasn't slept on the bed in quite a while. She'll snuggle and then take off. Arthur likes to sleep on the pillow, right above my head.
Not this morning. When I say I was in a kidcat vice grip, I'm not exaggerating. When I moved my hand, Sian reached out and pulled it right back and didn't let go. At one point, my other arm went numb.
I finally fell back to sleep a little after 3 until 5:30. I was alone and could MOVE. And, yes, I missed them.
Maybe this behavior is due to my seasonal/holiday depression and they are picking up on my whonky energy because during the day I can't sit down without 3 or 4 of them jumping up on my lap. Even Carys paid me a short visit, last night.

(92,451 posts)And just want you to be okay. It's nice to have someone, especially cats, to be there when we need comfort.
I was just thinking yesterday that it's only three weeks till the solstice! Days start getting longer after that!

(27,261 posts)It is light enough for me to feed the outdoor adults at about 7:20. (Two have gone missing. I'm back to just Skittish, Scooter, Tabby and, occasionally, Spooky).
Anyway, the moon was beautiful and I wondered what stage it will be at on the Solstice. Definitely not full but I still hope the sky is clear enough to see it.
I always think of the Winter Solstice as the real New Year's Eve/Day. That must be due to the Pagan in me.

(92,451 posts)The Solstice as the real New Year's Day as well. I follow nature and its timing more than our human constructed time set. Solstice will be right between 1st quarter and full moon next month so it will be up early and rather bright.
I wonder if those who go missing in cold weather have a more desirable place to be during those times. I'm glad you have the babies indoors, didn't you get some snow this last few days? How are they doing?

(27,261 posts)Today is in the 40's so the snow is fast disappearing.
Indoor and outdoor fur babies are doing great. The porch crowd is venturing outside, today. I'm going to go out and spend some time with them and try to get some updated photos.

(92,451 posts)Though changes come a couple days earlier.
I talked to Mikey's mom last week, she got a heating pad for his little cave that I made for him. He's around ten years old now so he will fare well with that when he has to wait to go in or just wants to warm up while he's out. He sleeps indoors at night when it's cold out. He has his little hidey holes in the house so he can get away from the Dachshund puppy who is a little terror. It will keep Mikey busy getting that little beast under control. Mikey is the pet boss after all.
I'll have to go visit them soon.

(27,261 posts)I was pretty shocked we were able to catch her. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why she sometimes wants my attention. She will sit and watch the other fur babies jumping on my lap and getting lots of attention. She can see I'm not a threat to them. It is so frustrating.
My hope springs eternal that she will, one day, overcome her anxiety. Of course I hope the same thing about me.

(1,230 posts)As for the numbness, it just goes to show that part of you is asleep.
I woke up about 3:00 with back spasms so got up for a dose of my medicine. While I was at it I put another log in the wood stove and tucked Mollys blanket around her. Her bed is in a corner of the living room as close to the wood stove as it can be without catching fire. Shes there now, softly snoring and dreaming of meeting that cute dog down the mountain. The one with black fur like hers, both their faces and muzzles gone white with age. Or maybe chasing those 2 red dogs that live a little ways farther along down the mountain but run loose, stopping every morning to leave her some pee-mail at the end of the drive-way.
Woke up again about 6:00, so, our first walk was in the moonlight with plenty of stars still visible. Its my favorite time of the day. Er, night? Its quiet then and I can look up and drink deeply of the sky with maybe moon and stars and planets and the ISS and satellites. Or maybe the sky is windy, full of clouds or rain or snow. But I digress.
A friend once told me that forever comes in pieces.
Your kidcat& kitcat sandwiches are beautiful pieces of your forever. And fur-ever, too.
As always, many thanks for sharing with us these pieces of forever.

Oh, the moon at Solstice will be 2 nights past a quarter moon, which actually looks like half the moons circle🌓
Preview follows.
Because music makes my word go round.
