our big boy - 18.5 lbs and not overweight, poses in front of his feeding station, in front of his Dryad
He's lovey but don't pick him up! Only I can do it sometimes, and in a very specific way!

(10,485 posts)I had an 18-pound cat at one time. He was not overweight, but he was tall and long. Big kitty.
Jasper looks like he's saying: "Mom, you gonna put food in that thing or not?!"

(2,067 posts)Yeah he and his brother Midnight tear through the house. Midnight's 15 lbs, so there's quite a difference. They have three levels to run around and a catio as we have tons of coyotes here, and Z's made several platforms for them. We lost our Blue to a coyote prior to these guys. He was a Russian blue.
CousinIT
(10,485 posts)That's devastating. Wise keeping the others save in a catio. We have coyotes here too sometimes. When anyone sees one, there are warnings on our neighborhood mailing list & Nextdoor telling people to get and keep their babies inside unless they are right there watching them.

(2,067 posts)Our neighbor saw a coyote right outside our yard that morning. This was after he went missing that day. They weren't here when I moved here in '99. Now they're all over the island, and we have a wooded lot behind our house where all of the critters go. The entire island is very rural. So, Z built a catio.
Having watchful neighbors is great, but here, just keep your cats inside if possible. So many go missing every year, all allowed outside cats.

(113,131 posts)Tuxedo kitty in a cutaway coat, suitable for so many formal occasions.
Goddessartist
(2,067 posts)I had initially named him Raven, but then turned to him and called him Jasper, and he responded right away. It was kind of weird, but cool.
He's always ready for a fancy party with lots of treats!

Blessed Yule!

(2,067 posts)I have a FB page that I haven't updated in over a year, and an art page there. I did post a piece on The Shiflett Brothers Sculpting forum, where you'll find many amazing works of art. I'm goddessartist across all platforms, so easy to find.
Jasper says 'thank you meow'.
Blessed Yule!
Merry Meet and Many Blessings!

(2,806 posts)All siblings. Being a literary type person who has this thing for puns and word games, they have been given Leiberish and Lovecraftian names.(Fritz and HP being notorious cat lovers.) They revel in the monikers of Ulthar Ynxpaht, Miss Katonic Neferkiti and The Grey Mouser. They have the full run of a 140 year old church that I have converted into a theater, and belong to The Noble Order of Theater Cats.
Goddessartist
(2,067 posts)And your names are absolutely marvelous!
And I'd love to see your theater!

(2,806 posts)Unfortunately, I have no idea how to post pictures on DU. Kinda hoped the powers that be would have simplified the procedure when they upgraded...but I guess not.
Love your work, BTW!
Goddessartist
(2,067 posts)Someone else here posted that, so I started uploading. There's also imgur.
I think hosting images is costly, so this is a good alternative!
Thank you so much!

(3,032 posts)He reminds me of Cujo the Pirate kitty who always raids our house. He's not ours, he just roams the neighborhood. He's also a tuxedo cat and you can't pick him up. You can't even walk by him too fast or you'll get popped. I love your art work too!
Goddessartist
(2,067 posts)Cujo, perfect name for him! Jasper also does not want to be picked up. I can do it, a certain way, but no one else really, except when Z takes him for his afternoon walk outside. He walks both of the cats every day!

(3,032 posts)There's a lady in our neighborhood that lives a few blocks over and she would walk her 3 dogs and she had a tuxedo cat that followed her too. One day we had a short conversation with 4 dogs and about 3 cats all hanging out together. Fun times!
Goddessartist
(2,067 posts)when I was a child. When Z walks them, he walks them around the back yard! We have tons of birds, so it's always really fun for them.

(59,727 posts)My little dog is only 8 lbs. He doesn't look twice her size.
Goddessartist
(2,067 posts)What kind of little dog? I love little dogs. Cat dogs I call them.
Our little Aussie, Josie, plays with both him and Midnight. Josie's more wary of Jasper, as he will whap her, but not hurt her. Still they play with Jasper on his back and Josie getting batted by his paws.
Irish_Dem
(59,727 posts)I have a little Maltese. I guess half the size of Jasper.
It sounds like Jasper is friendly and plays well with the other pets.
Someone in my neighborhood has a coon cat that roams around sometimes.
This cat is humongous. Almost looks like a small coyote.
Goddessartist
(2,067 posts)He is friendly, just don't pick him up.
Main Coon's are so fabulous! Dog cats!
Irish_Dem
(59,727 posts)Though it would be good exercise.
I never saw a coon cat and had to look it up online.
I had no idea what I was looking at.
Goddessartist
(2,067 posts)So maybe that helps with size perspective.

Hello Pooper Dooper!
Thank you! Tuxie's are wonderful!
