(92,842 posts)Like they look for the past few days.
What with the solstice approaching and Mercury and Neptune nearly standing still, who has any energy of drive?
I have kept up with the housework and the maint. guy came back and made my new disposal, that he installed last Thursday, work in concert with the dishwasher Wed. There was a drain obstruction that was a tricky find, I don't hold it against him. So I had to wash my dishes by hand for a few days, no big deal. I know he had other bigger, more vital jobs on his list that took priority, I wasn't upset. He's new, I want to be on good terms too.
But there isn't a lot going on. I have to butcher some house plants that are out of control but I haven't yet, it will be a task. Ugh.
In a couple weeks things will be moving right along so I expect to be more active, probably over the weekend which is going to be really warm.

(27,300 posts)I think there will be 8 of us. One of my favorite cousins is driving in from Springfield IL to spend a couple of days with us, AND Cinder, Smoke and Ember's mom will be here, too. It should be fun but also exhausting. I might just sleep through Boxing Day.
I'll have a nice, quiet Solstice celebration with the kidcats.

(92,842 posts)That's a bit of planning and cooking. I think your idea of Boxing is day for sleeping is a good one.
I have no real plans except for the solstice celebration.

(27,300 posts)My family always had a huge get together on Christmas Eve, at my grandparent's house. They had 8 children so I had a lot of cousins. Over the years, the older family has died off and a lot of my cousins moved away.
Grandma always made a pea, onion, potato and mushroom soup. Now I'm the only one who knows how to make that soup. I keep showing people how it's made. It's not that difficult. You just have to get the roux just right. Everyone is bringing something for the meal. My niece and her husband are bringing the roast beef so all I have to handle is a veg dish and the Yorkshire pudding. My friend who adopted Madoc's siblings is a vegan so I'll be sure that some of the veg are butter free. My brother will handle the vegan entree.
One of my nephews got married last year and moved back to Michigan from Florida. It will be fun just to get together. We will eat, drink and be very, very merry.

(92,842 posts)That most of the cooking will be done by others.
Glad you have a long lost relative to catch up with, that's usually fun.
I'll probably have a bunch of phone calls and that will be enough for me. Maybe my buddy, whom I do a weekly dinner with, will want to make a dinner or something, sit around and play cards.
