Related: About this forumWhat if your pet (dog, cat, whatever) could grade you as an owner.....
what score do you think you would earn?
I think I'd get a solid B. points for living locations, neg. points for food preference and entertainment. Not that I don't feed him well, he'd just prefer something I'm cooking at the moment. And I don't go out to throw a frickin; ball when it is 20 degree's outside.

(106,365 posts)getting our four miles in each day--starting pre-dawn.
-Food, meh.
-Treats (strictly control now)
-Letting her lick off plates ++
-Going out and leaving her home alone when not at work (points for not doing that)
-Good scratches, belly rubs, cuddles (points)
So, yeah, probably a solid B (my girlie has high expectations, after all)

(28,392 posts)The Skippa gets a lot of treats....and chew things. (minimizes chew damage on shoes, furniture etc)
Plate lick/pre-clean - check.
Daily trips downtown. Skippa is a backseat dog that wind surfs the open air.....forcing me to wear gloves and high heat settings in the truck.
Scratches/belly rubs - check. And 3x times a week brushing....because that's less hair I have to vacuum.
I'm changing to grade B+, now that I think about it.

(119,939 posts)my grade depends on whether he is comfortably ensconced on my lap, or if I have had the temerity to get up. Even lower marks if I actually leave. The grade for food and treats is okay, especially if the treat is bacon!

(28,392 posts)That's been my experience.
Probably why I don't own a cat......

(3,650 posts)For both. My dog worships me and she usually gets what she wants, as shes a cavalier and they have those eyes that make you cave, immediately. My cat has me trained to do whatever she desires. She has recently trained my husband to carry her upstairs with us when we go to bed. She waits and expects it. He thought it was so cute. She knew exactly what she was doing.
We are suckers. So we get an A+.

(26,727 posts)Two cats, one a recent addition to my life when his first humans gave him to me about two months ago when they were moving to a place that wouldn't allow pets.
For several months last year the cat, Tony, spent a lot of time in my house and he and my other cat, Tatiana, adopted from the local shelter in July, 2020, got to know each other. They get along extremely well.
I feed them, play with them, give them treats, let them outside during the day. I think if there were a cat DU my cats would be saying how wonderful this human is.

(26,727 posts)My two cats are wonderful, of course.
I love them a lot. I love the time I get to spend with them. They are the best.

(11,483 posts)... but this dog would probably give me an A. She's an "easy A" type of dog.
