Mentally preparing myself

Lily has a tumor on her side. Yes it is cancerous. No idea what will happen since Friday they are removing it. I'm honestly afraid because last time we had one of our dogs go in for life saving surgery, he died two days later. I can't do this again. If she dies, I'm gonna not be able to function properly again.

I keep reading that they survive 95% of the time, but know the dark cloud we have over us on the constant the other 5% is going to get us. I can't go through this again.

purpose is not to set a foster up for a long, spoiled life but to comfort and give a loving send off. Immortality isn't to be found on planet earth and animals have souls... lots of reports in NDEs of pets being taken care of until they're reunited with their loved one. Every form of life has energy and energy cannot be destroyed. Don't say goodbye. Say until later.

But no matter the outcome, you should feel assured that you gave her the love and very best care you could provide.

Be at peace with your decision and spend the pre surgery time with her celebrating your relationship, be productive with her by talking to her, thanking her, holding her, and yes, feeling some anxiety as that is normal.
My main point is please celebrate your time together for precisely the reason you worry.

I pray she comes out of her ordeal a renewed angel that will continue to be yours as you are hers.

I hope Lily gets the tumor removed and it doesn't return or spread and she lives a long healthy life. I pray that you you are reassured by her living through the operation and heals without a hitch. Positive energy going your way.
