Related: About this forumThe kidcats all needed some reassurance, last night, after the really bad weather
We had strong storms and even a tornado roll through mid-Michigan, last night. The tornado was south of me.
The thunder and lightning were right on my doorstep. I slept through some of it but the tornado warning alert on my phone jarred me awake. At that point, all of the kidcats fled to hiding places. Except for Sian. She's a brave girl.
After things calmed down there was a BIG competition for which fur baby got to snuggle the closest to mom. I ended up trying to get SOME sleep, with Madoc, Arthur and Gryff curled up on top and next to me. Carys was close by but Sian was quite happy to go back to the bed on the cat tree.
I got MAYBE 3 hours of non continuous sleep, last night, so I'm going to feed the porch and outdoor fur babies and then TRY to get a little more sleep - no doubt covered in kidcats, again.

(27,291 posts)I saw just 3 ferals, this morning. It's very windy so the rest are probably still sheltering.

(10,784 posts)We were on the north edge of it, not smack in the action and it still looked like the entire sky was lit.
Gotta interrupt here for a sec
Our vet is making calls to us to warn of the flea and tick problem
he cautions us to be vigilant because we havent gotten a hard ground freeze for an extended time in a while. Already they have treated animals big and small for ticks and fleas. IN FEBRUARY! Protection should be year round nowadays.
Thank you, Siwsan
we now return you to your OP.
Enjoy today with the kits.

1 cat refused to come inside for 3 days, hid out under the shed.
The other 2 cats would not leave our sides.
If we went out, they were under the bed.

(27,291 posts)But Gryff might be faking so that I'll feel sorry for him and play a seemingly endless game of fetch.

(27,291 posts)I've come so close to tripping over him, several times. Trying to make something for breakfast was a challenge.
He's sitting on the dining room table, just staring at me.
I might just pull out the sofa bed and take a nap, this afternoon. Last night I tried to get some sleep on the living room couch. My niece asked if she could come by at about 6, this morning, to get ready for work. Her electricity was out. I figured if I slept on that couch, I'd be more likely to hear her at the door.
So, it was me and the boys trying to get comfortable. Well, I was trying. They seemed just fine sleeping on my feet and ribs. I got about an hour of sleep. Then I got a text that her power came back on so she wouldn't be stopping by.
Hopefully a nice cuddle puddle will get everyone back in their comfort zone, and me some rest. With the temps plummeting to the 20's, today, all of this puddled rain is going to freeze and the roads will be a nightmare. I'm going nowhere.

(27,291 posts)I want to stay awake until the noon news.
The neighborhood where my niece lives is an older one - houses were built in the early 1960s and there are a LOT of big trees. It's a beautiful location but those trees are a real hazard when the weather turns. Especially the big pine trees.

(2,067 posts)when you can. Just baby yourself and them today.
It's been weird weather here - I've never been to Michigan - tornados would be terrifying, and I could not take the cold at all.
Big warm hugs to you and the kidcats! I'm having hot cinnamon tea right now with all three of my fur babies sleeping - sending you warm vibes!

(35,774 posts)The cats sprang off the bed and I tumbled out of it to see if we needed to flee but it was south of us, too so we all went back to bed, jangled nerves and all. The lightning was crazy, almost like a strobe.

Our feral-pretending-to-be-tame (because it is easier to get food that way) cat freaks out at the slightest hint of rain and comes in to hide.
Dog1 (girl) goes out and barks at thunder. Big anxiety panic.
Dog2 (boy) just carries on sleeping.
