Related: About this forum2 water sporting dogs and hosing them off you'd think they were abused.
I forgot to close the back gate my fault and second time out this morning for Dunc golden retriever and Otis yellow lab.
Both were at back patio slider covered in mud they were in the creek rolling in mud heavy rains here in Pennsylvania .
So hosing them off oh Dunc tail between his legs father stop the abuse like I said goldens could have their own soap opera drama.
I ask you guys are supposed to be bird hunting retrievers and that includes water.
Dunc - Dad yes we need water to drink and then we slobber it on the floor.
We love water and mud thats the best.
Hosing us off not so much.
Getting a bath and grooming definitely no on my list. I think i would call PETA if I had a phone and thumbs over baths.
After they were bathed this morning and I dry them off they both got the zoomies.

(1,867 posts)Pretty sure only one got it.....and she's the oldest and should know better. Hard to say for sure after sniffing her.....one sniff and my sinuses are pretty much burnt out. EVERYTHING now smells like skunk.
She got a bath (hydogen peroxide, baking soda and dog shampoo) and I started washing what she touched as best I could tell.
Number two is drooling like he's been hit with pepper spray. He knows.
Number three disappeared upstairs for some quiet. She was inside.
The puppy is having a great time. Nobody is following her around watching/waiting so she's pooped and peed in the space of the first two minutes of chaos.
Makes it easy to decide whether to try and sleep a little more or get up, I guess.

(71,681 posts)its in my growing area, so i have a garden hose attached. it has a floor drain, and its roomy enough for a full wheelchair. but not big enough for a dog to get away from the hose.
i hate the post bath zoomies, cuz my backyard is all dirt after 10 yrs of chickens. i have to just let them rage around my living room til they calm down. or dry off.
i feel your pain.

Jump into a mud puddle? Oh yes.
Bath with a garden hose or go outside for potty in the rain? Animal abuse.

(141,427 posts)One of my sisters has a black lab and he likes to go down to the little creek at the bottom of my sister's yard to stare at the minnows and drink... But then don't let it be raining and he has to go out to "do his business" and he's like - What? RAIN???!!! Oh HELL no!!1!!1!
I asked her - "Aren't they supposed to be 'water dogs' out retrieving stuff"? She laughed.

(7,080 posts)even the smallest puddle. At 8 weeks old I turned on the hose and she went nutty. Couldnt get enough. Even liked her shower with me. Still miss her.
