Thank you everyone. Going to say goodbye to my grand dog

Last edited Thu Apr 11, 2024, 03:33 PM - Edit history (1)

She's been having hip trouble, testing today shows not only arthritis, but cancer. So glad I have always spent time with her, and so sorry to hear this news. She is such a good dog, and has added so much to our lives.

It was very peaceful. The vet office put us in a small room with cloth furniture, and brought our girl in. They brought a nice think blanket for her to lie on and let us take our time to say goodbye. So hard. She had a port in her leg, and the vet put the drug in thru the port. It was the easiest passing I've seen. She's over the bridge and hope she remembers the others who loved her, who will be glad to see her.

Thank you for the support in this sudden awful moment.

She was a rescue, washed out of a training program. Big baby is afraid of fireworks and other loud noises. Her people were going to get her started on a new kind of med for arthritis today. She's been so healthy except for soreness that was getting more frequent. She loves to run, and patrolled her perimeter each time she went out. Wildlife fears and respects her. She has never caught anything, but she makes sure they exercise when she is out.

When my lab bothers me for walks, play time, food, or hops up on my bed I
always think that sometime in the future I would give anything for just 30
seconds w/her. I hope she lives on in you and your family’s hearts 💞.

Take a deep breath (or 1300), and know that she's watching from Overhead. Sounds like the way our Goldie finally went. Peacefully with us there and the lights low and the room to ourselves and soft music playing from somewhere. It IS hard. MISERABLY hard. But brief, and you console yourself with thoughts that your little sweetheart is at peace and no longer in pain, and that you may be able to get over it eventually. All that stuff. I think lots of us have known that pain. So you have comfort coming your way from MANY - here and elsewhere in your life.

One of the things that unites us all. Sad as it is.

She also had hip dysplasia. The day after we said goodbye I adopted Bunji from the shelter. Very happy with that decision.

You did the right thing, But I know how hard it is when they pass. You loved and cared for her and gave her a good life. Likewise, she gave you the gift of joy and heartfelt companionship, for the time she was in your life.

Imagine her now having a wondrous reunion with those who are waiting for her, over the rainbow bridge.

The price we pay for the love pets give us is that their lives are so much shorter than ours and it's painful when one dies.

It's well worth the cost but the cost is significant.

If fate allows, I'll take a break when she's gone, and then decide what is next. Most of the pets we have had came to us as strays or other routes. If the next pet doesn't come to me, maybe I'll go looking :/
