Update on our cat Cece

We got her an ultrasound today - they didn't see anything noteworthy.

Took a second x-ray and found that her stomach was full of Tidy Cat Breeze litter pellets. They will probably not pass. So, word to the wise - if you have an elderly cat, a pellet-based system is probably not a good idea because sometimes cats will eat litter when something is wrong, trying to get nutrients in which they are deficient. Clay litter will at least pass through the system.

Based on deeper analysis of the blood test results, they think it may be bone marrow cancer. Given the invasiveness and pain involved with the potential biopsy and chemo, we have opted to bring her home and let her live out her remaining days (until it becomes clear that the time has come for euthanasia). She'll be on a couple of meds intended to make her more comfortable.

"What a day!"

We would like to thank everyone who donated and thank anyone else in advance - the goal has been lowered as we did not opt for a hospital stay. (If our financial situation hadn't been unusually bad recently, we would not have asked at all.) Just knowing there are kind people in the world makes a huge difference.

I'd be wanting to know who came up with pellet litter and didnn't provide any warnings about aging cats not being able to pass it.

I recently had to face the same decision with my indescribably beautiful fur baby who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I held him in my arms as the vet assisted his crossing the rainbow bridge. Painful as that moment of the last parting was, I was grateful to give him a peaceful transition and to know that mine was the voice whispering words of love and profound gratitude for the companionship and time we shared. You and your fur baby are very much in my heart.
