A question about cat litter

The packaging says not to mix different litters.

Does that mean don't mix clumping and non-clumping or does it mean don't mix 2 or more brands that clump? I just dumped the last of a brand of clumping litter into one litter box so I could put a different brand into the other.

Thanks for any advice.

like a scheme to get you to only by one brand. When I had cats who used litter boxes (the cat I have now prefers to go outside, yes!) mixing litters didn't bother me or them. Don't know if that's any help as I'm no expert

I didn't need much info. I hope if I have 2 brands of clumping, I can mix it and it won't burst into flames if the cat pees in the box. Lol

All those perfumes and chemicals in others are not good we think. All our dogs that wanted to eat that= premature death.

10. I had my first cat when I was a teen

I'd go out in the yard and dig up some dirt. We didn't have litter pans, trash can liners, scoops. I'd put the dirt in a cardboard box, maybe some cardboard under the box, When I had to change it, I'd get the whole thing into another box and throw the whole thing out, usually refill the hole and start fresh. I was probably in my late 20s before I started buying litter, pans, scoops.

My last batch of cats all lived to be 17 to 22. Current cat is 18. I use the unscented scoop litter, trying to buy what my friend used for current kitty, for continuity. I've been curious for awhile about the limits on mixing lol

7. I buy the clumping litter on sale

I mix them.
I would not mix clumping litter OR flushable litter with different kinds of litter.

That has features means that it has a lot of chemicals added which also means you may risk making the little toxic in some way, as well as a marketing ploy.

If you mix plain unadulterated litter with one that has a feature, the feature will be diluted and probably not do what it claims because of it.
