YUM! Forget bread stuffing, cranberries and potatoes, game birds. Venison and meat pies were the norm as well as clams and mussels, etc.

I always taught my First Graders about the real first Thanksgiving and we voted (we voted on everything...partly civics/partly they loved doing it) for our favorite foods. The seafood entree was always a winner. No fruit pies for dessert...not so much.

They even showed the pilgrims that is you stick a fish head in the dirt with a few seeds the plant would be better. I read tons of books to my First Graders....I wonder how much they remembered, if any.
