1. There is a series of books. "The Iconography of Manhattan Island." W.P.A. project for historians.

They were given access to manuscript, newspapers and city archives. With these they compiled a written timeline of Manhattan. There is a copy of this book in the N.Y.C. main library. Copies also for sale --- expensive.

Anyway, I recall one recorded event. A slave killed a white man. Because they couldn't identify the slave, they city chose 6 random slaves and hanged them in a public square as a threat to other slaves.
