Definitive Proof That Eric Holder Lied to Congress About Obama's Medical Marijuana Crackdown

Last edited Sun Jun 17, 2012, 01:59 PM - Edit history (1)

Attorney General Eric Holder told the House Judiciary Committee last week that his department was not prosecuting medical marijuana businesses that are in compliance with state law. In the week since, drug reform advocates have culled together an overwhelming amount of evidence that Holder either lied to the committee, or—as seems to have been the case with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearm's "Operation Fast and Furious"—is oblivious to what his department is doing outside Washington, D.C.

"One has to deal with the reality that there are certain people who took advantage of the state law and a different policy that this administration announced...and have come up with ways they are tkaing advantage of those state laws and going beyond what those states have authorized," Holder said.

Steph Sherer of Americans for Safe Access called Holder out last week. Now here's Eric Sterling pointing out that the DOJ has threatened to prosecute state employees who comply with their states' marijuana laws.

Although Fast and Furious was not his idea he has botched the whole program.

And his performance when it comes to medical marijuana is appalling.

But if some of these asshole republicans are screaming for him to resign and threatening endless investigations,

Then I am 100% in Mr Holder's corner.

Unfortunately the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Sometimes you gotta cut one outta the herd and make an example of him. Holder is a bug that needs crushing. just because some repugs are screaming makes no difference--feed him to the wolves to let others in power know that WE DO NOT FOLLOW BLINDLY. let the repugs have their little victory." we don't need to win every battle, we need to win the War&quot Sun Zu)

do not like the drug war either. This is not team sports, the drug war is one result of the military/prison/pharma/ industrial complex amassing way too much money and power against the common folk. They are abusing this power and I hope that by the expression of resistance by both parties, we may find some sanity.

I talk to many Republicans about this, that many issues facing this country are not about left vs. right, they are about the abuse of power by a hierarchy-which is a vertical imbalance of power. We have to shift the perspective in this country--like the concept of 'the 99%' against the 1%--most of our misery is due to consolidated power and influence by a relatively small group of people at the top.

Otherwise we end up fighting amongst ourselves--which is absolutely what the 1% wants us to do. They want us to be afraid, to hate each other, and to fight over the crumbs they leave us, with the guns they provide to us, and on the misinformation they feed us. It is what they have done overseas to countless countries and this is what they are doing to this country.

I think it would be fantastic to have both parties unified on something, it might be a spark of sanity.
