Related: About this forumMP-5 Missing From FBI Agent's Car
They're not quite sure when it disappeared and would appreciate any tips about it's whereabouts. CA just made it illegal to improperly secure firearms, and for once they didn't exempt law enforcement, so this may have interesting ramifications.
I'm not sure how much sense it makes for FBI agents to drive around with sub-machine guns in their cars as a normal practice.

Lurks Often
(5,455 posts)If the agent is routinely going after people known to be violent and dangerous, the sub machine gun makes sense.
Also many major FBI offices have agents who have SWAT training as a secondary role, which would require him to have his SWAT gear with him at all times.

(3,918 posts)If the agent has the MP-5 up front for whatever reason, he has to get out, pop the trunk, bring the weapon to the back of the car, and lock it in. Who may have witnessed this? SUV's don't have trunks, anyway. And a handgun safe won't fit an MP-5. We went through this in IL several years back, mandatory trunk storage was trying to be passed. Well, a lot of hunters don't use cars when they go hunt, and trucks and SUV's don't have trunks. It was defeated, thankfully. Right now, I nor the wife have a vehicle that has a trunk.

(3,918 posts)9mm standard, newer model in 10mm. Got to shoot one at an indoor range, once. Solid stock, not fond of collapsible stocks.
