"I hate that boy dead, but I don't hate I shot him"

The true feelings of a 79 year-old man who shot and killed a criminal during a burglary. This is one of the main reasons to have a strong second amendment. There was no chance the police would have been there in time to protect him.

I feel for this gentleman, but I understand completely. I am coming up on 61, and I simply can't depend upon my physical skills for protection any more. One of the reasons I have a CCW. I almost never carry, but on those rare occasions, it provides peace of mind.

BTW, I find that when I do carry, I tend to drive more circumspectly, and I don't try to draw attention to myself while out in public. I guess that comes with not wanting to be in the position where I have to use it.

I am elderly, way to elderly to be capable of defending myself if needed. I also have a CCW license, unlike you I carry whenever I am out and about in public, like you I am very very careful to stay out of situations that possibly lead to an sort of confrontation.. I will never be the instigator of any trouble and I will do anything within my abilities to stay out of and or walk away from anything that could lead to a fight of any sort...Having said that I do not feel that I must allow anyone to beat me up or cause serious harm to another... I sincerely hope that I will never ever find a need to use my weapon and will run if possible..

I don't care for guns as self defense. I use them, but I wouldn't want to carry. Instead, I've done many years of martial arts training, and yes, I've had to use it. I prefer to avoid any situation where I might need to use it, but part of the reason I'm more comfortable with bare hands, knives, and such is that I have a wider range of choices between a bloody nose and death than if I shoot in self defense. The reality is that sometimes you have to fight back. Like you, I feel for the guy, and know there is no reason for him to feel bad about defending himself rather than being a victim.

Look at some of the people arrested today. They are fit and muscular. So, I will resort to weapons to defend myself, my family and my property.

I am 67, have walked on crutches for over 25 years, and have no intention of getting beat up, robbed, or bullied. If I think that there is a chance that I will have to use my CCW where I am going, I don't go. I do not want to cause another person pain, or take their life. But, even more, I do not want to suffer pain at some one else's hands, or die because they choose to take my life. I seldom carry, but when I do, I too am more careful to not provoke or antagonize others. Carrying a firearm is a responsibility that I take very serious. To date, I have not had to use my pistol for self defense. I thank the Lord that He has spared me that choice. If the situation would demand the use of force, I will do what is necessary to protect me and mine.
