Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has deleted his Facebook account, lambasting the company's political ads policy.
In a tweet, the celebrity accused the firm's chief Mark Zuckerberg of having valued profit over truthfulness.
It followed its decision to let politicians run adverts that contain lies on the social network.
The firm has said that it does not believe decisions about which political ads run should be left to private companies.

So disappointed that #MarkZuckerberg values profit more than truthfulness that I've decided to delete my @Facebook account. I know this is a big "Who Cares?" for the world at large, but I'll sleep better at night. #PatriotismOverProfits

(84,531 posts)Good on Mark Hamill. And shame on Marl Zuckerberg.
Shame on him for going so shamelessly for the buck rather than the truth. Makes me wonder - does trump or somebody close inside have something on him?

(586 posts)I did the same thing a long time ago. I suggest everyone else to do the same.
I have a friend who lives in Australia. She said facebook is censoring posts that are sympathetic to the Iranian General who was killed. If facebook can edit those messages, they can edit incorrect (lies) info in political ads too!
And they won't start doing the right thing unless they begin to lose money for what they're doing (or not doing) now

(15,122 posts)I think the same thing about Mark's decision as I do about the CBP and ICE people who resigned rather than do the sick bidding of this administration. About the dozens of people who have resigned from every part of Trump's administration who would rather go through the hassle of finding a new job rather than doing what they know is wrong.
Every day, all of us, every single one, has a dozen different opportunities to say or do something that reflects what is right. The more of us who adhere to this practice, the better for the whole society.

(14 posts)Facebook feels more like a right wing website nowadays with all of the annoying ads. Plus they don't even care if the ads are correct or not.
