Anyone else notice any decline in the BBC heard in the US in the late evening?

The BBC was the one source where I once heard reported the facts undermining the Bush admin's claims re- WMD in Iraq.

Now it seems 50% is sports (even after the end of the Olympics), 10% is reading listeners' tweets, 10% is perky music, and the rest is the same 3 stories, shallowly reported . . . .

(Changes were made in the BBC's governance a couple of years ago, to permit the PM to appoint its Board members and to permit outsourcing to private cos., and I'm concerned that these changes are finally showing up in a decline in useful news.)

Sort of a parallel to NPR news decline.

2. I hadn't really noticed, but will

give it more attention. I stopped listening during the Olympics as I had no interest at all in the event. I do listen a bit on my commute to work in the early AM, which is about all the time I have to devote to the BBC. With the general decline in broadcast radio I have started listening to podcasts of assorted lectures during my commuting time. I find it more entertaining & enlightening. I can pick up the news through the net later in the day.

3. True. But the BBC is one of dam' few remaining news orgs that

maintain correspondents overseas, etc. I mean, you can't replace it entirely with tweets and podcasters.

4. I just hate the typing and mouse clicks while a guest is talking.
