US and South Korea may scale back joint military exercises over coronavirus fears

Secretary of Defense Mark Esper told reporters at the Pentagon Monday that some command post joint exercises with South Korea could be scaled back due to precautions being taken over the rapidly-spreading coronavirus.

South Korean Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo echoed Esper’s sentiments during a joint briefing held at the Pentagon Monday and said that the combined exercises may have to be “curtailed.”

Jeong explained that the spread of the virus has grown more “serious by the day” and that movement between South Korean military units was limited.

The South Korean defense minister said U.S. Forces Korea commander Gen. Abe Abrams and Gen. Park Han-Ki, Republic of Korea chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were working on the issue and would “make the right decision.”

1. My son's Sergeant and best friend is in South Korea, we watched

his children last night, it took my breath away when I heard the first mention of S.Korea and US military base. When my son left for Qatar last month, all my worries were in relation to Trump, that is now profoundly compounded.

I sometimes feel like we all have been dropped into the middle of a dystopian horror movie and everyone else is not yet aware.

4. Entire economies are beginning to lock up

And millions of people have been confined to their homes with limited food and water for a month.

Also, a lot of people with severe medical needs (other than the novel coronavirus) are avoiding seeking medical treatment because they fear contracting the new virus.

It's a very dangerous scenario.

It's spreading in Italy too.

(I know you know all this, but others may be blissfully unaware).

5. I believe they are, and for awhile there would think to myself

let them have that for now, before everything gets flipped upside down, but now it is time to start waking up. South Korea's numbers, are the only ones I truly believe.

they have great transparency. too bad about the Sincheonji cult ignorantly failing to fully cooperate and impeding the public health effort.
