This Christmas is not one veteran John Weinburgh will forget.

From his wheelchair on Thursday, the 39-year-old Weinburgh stared at the gift in front of him: a 2015 Ford Explorer, adorned in red, white and blue automobile wrap and covered with hundreds of signatures in silver ink.

The Explorer is one of the first wheelchair-accessible SUVs ever produced. It was given to the former staff sergeant by the Omaha Wounded Warriors Family Support group and converted by BraunAbility and Heartland Mobility to meet Weinburgh’s needs.
