X post from GD.
Marta contacted the Omaha World Herald. They did some detective work and got the Wall Cemetery mowed!
Marta's Graveyards of Omaha site: http://www.graveyardsofomaha.com/
Marta's Wall Cemetery pages includes the info on how he was killed by friendly fire in 1944: http://www.graveyardsofomaha.com/submarine/submarinel_main.html
This is how the cemetery looked several years ago.
Today's pix below.
These are how the cemetery looked on Memorial Day
Today. The flag still looks like it went through a battle. We will take care of that soon!

(2,679 posts)2. I do remember.
I asked one of the old guys around here. They said the American Legion and VFW sometimes work with local Boy Scouts who will help. So that may be a resource for you.
That's a great thing you guys did. I also know why that's important to you.
Thank you .

(2,030 posts)3. You'd think the Boy Scouts would be all over this
as an Eagle Scout Project. I did park cleanup several times during my Scout years.

The VFW has to contact the BSA. They said the troops always have boys looking of Eagle Projects and service projects for the yonger scouts.
