Does anyone know about this?: VAs Vet ID System...

https://taskandpurpose.com/veteran-id-card-application-works/

After A False Start, The VA’s Vet ID System Finally Works
By James Clark, January 30, 2018

Late last year, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it would officially launch the veteran ID card program Nov. 29. Gone would be the days of stuffing a laminated DD-214 into your back pocket before scoring hardware discounts at Home Depot discounts or free grub from Applebees on Veterans Day. Finally, there’d be proof of one’s service in the form of a glossy white ID card.

At least, that was the hope. Instead, the Nov. 29 rollout of the program was fraught with problems. Many applicants — including seven vets at Task & Purpose who tested the application system — reported broken links or error messages. Though the Veteran ID card application page has remained online since it launched, vets who were unable to complete the process were asked to leave their email address with the department, which would get back to the applicants at a later time. More than 136,000 Veterans provided their emails and 1,145 submitted help-desk tickets due to errors, Curt Cashour, the press secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs told Task & Purpose.

As of Jan. 29, Veterans can once again again submit online applications online, and this time — the applications actually go through. Several T&P staffers successfully ran through the application process, and barring one case where a veteran’s photo was inverted, it seemed to work fine.

I found out about it after receiving a notification about a Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund application from NYS's Cornell Small Farms Program, so from my point of view the original source seems legit and I was just unaware. Being a Cold War era vet but not a retiree, I never received any form of ID.

I did because at that time because vets were doing two years inactive reserve after a hitch.

...I did a "try 1" at the local Air National Guard unit and handed my IAR card in exchange for an ANG card when I was sworn in at the time.

I didn't re-up after the "try 1" year and didn't receive a new IAR card when I was done with the ANG.

I forgot about that, thanks for the reminder.

I didn’t retire and I’m not using the VA hospital so it would be nice.

Our state recently added “Veteran” on the drivers license. You just have to bring a DD214 in and complete a form.

This link is a private concern not the V A. Take your DD214 to the eligibility office at any V A hospital and your enrolled. You will get benefits too not just an I D. This is more privatization of services that apparently don't work well on purpose to push the lie that the V A doesn't work. Every vet I know that uses the VA loves it. A little effort and your taken care of for life.

you have to be rated at 10% disability to get benefits unless you're below the income level for your area.

The new v a website makes it look like with income you may not qualify but you do. must be trumps tricks to keep people out. The only thing income affects is the amount of co pay you pay for meds and appointments. Bring your DD-214 to the elIgibility office at any major medical facility and you will be in. A disability rating helps to get some care but you do not need one to join . Its worth the trip.

I was home and went to the West L.A. VA Hospital. Updated my financial status, posed for my picture, and was told it would be mailed to me in two weeks. The whole process took as long as it took me to stand in line to grab a coffee and danish beforehand, easy peasy.

I caught a glimpse of the new design, and it resembles the OP image.

BTW The obligatory picture of the POTUS was missing from the foyer due to vandalism, apparently it happens a lot nowadays.

My VA hospital is 110 miles away and the nearest HCC is 70 miles away. My basic clinic is close. I go to my primary care doctor and have blood work done in the clinic near me. Every other doctor I have is 15-20 miles away from me, which is the nearest city. Surgery is performed at the hospital 15 miles away. I do not pay a penny for all this and if you are on a VA co pay, that is all you will pay the VA. The VA needs over 40,000 more doctors, nurses and technicians but Congress won't give them the money.

and so far it's been great. My VA is less than 10 miles away, but the wait for a primary care DR. is at least a couple of months.
