My son, a millennial, and I had a conversation about this. We both like FDR. We think we are going to need a new FDR, an FDR on steroids, to take care of the current crisis. People will need more help than ever, more jobs than ever, to get our country back on track.

Same for the 2nd Amendment, the Senate as it is constituted (profoundly imbalanced population-wise), the Electoral College, the filibuster, the SCOTUS (lifetime appointments, ability for the Senate to block one party for years if need be from replacing justices, etc), etc etc.

(especially) when clung to by one party (ie insist on playing by the rules even whilst they massively damage us. a perfect example being Manchin and Sinema's insistence on refusing to do eve small, targeted filibuster carve outs) even as the other party ignores them and/or uses them to tyrannical ends. These long wave flaws, and the resultant actions/inactions emanating from them will likely lead to the dissolution of the Union of the States.

but many of our parents were true FDR Democrats and they passed on his values and accomplishments.
