My grandparents and mother used to say that name and look at each other and laugh, I remembering asking Mom about it years ago, much like we say lines from a movie now.

The other one I used to hear, over and over, was " step by step, slowly I turned"....

a few threads ago I got a whim to see how Trivial Pursuit type questions would go over here in Boomers group.
I think, looking back, I should have listed that questions need to be on general knowledge that most Boomers would know,
and I most definetly would state "no sports" ....lol.
Years back I used to play the board game of Pursuit with my kids, and of course I got NONE of the sports questions, so I took to answering every one with "Wayne Gretsky".
That evolved into my answering any question I did not know with "wayne Gretsky"..

"Hey Mom, how many miles is it to Hawaii from Sweden?"
"Wayne Gretsy"
Mom...where are my shoes?
"Wayne...."
Well, you get the idea.

It's way more than three! If one is a Stooges fan, it's a simple matter to just cast the mind back and think about some of the episodes, and while Larry and Moe were pretty much always around, that third Stooge sometimes looked a bit different!

In the "Curly" role, there was Curly, SheMp, Curly Joe--these are the three most people can cough up, but there was also a fake Shemp--he looked a lot like Shemp, he only made a few appearances (4 as fake Shemp) as a Stooge, th, but he wasn't him (his name was Joe Palma) and another couple of guys named "Joe." Curly Joe looked like original Curly with more hair--he was played by Joe DeRita, another Joe, who looked a bit like Ernest Borgnine, was played by Joe Besser.

So, we count all those guys up

And we have SEVEN Stooges!!

But, to trick it all out, at the very, very end of their run, Larry had a stroke, and they hired a guy to substitute for him. His name was Emil Sitka. They were all set to make a film with him, but then Moe died, so the film was never made.

So, if you want to count the guy who was hired and had publicity pictures taken, but who never made a film, there were EIGHT Stooges in total!
