(34,253 posts)When I remodeled the bathroom, I put in a taller toilet. I hope you get good advice, did you ask in the disability group?

(9,605 posts)I always get aggravated when people who don't need to, use the handicap stall in public restrooms. I have a bad back and a bad leg, and it's really difficult to use those super low toilets. I always feel like I'm falling, and it's hard to get up.
Okay, now I have shared information that I would normally not be wont to do! That in itself must be a sign of old age.
Anyway, if it feel comfortable, get it. That's my recommendation.

(5,196 posts)There is another style, perhaps more cumbersome but better in the long run, that is more like a chair fitted over the commode.
The style I'm speaking of usually has feet that reach to the floor, as well as side handles for pushing oneself up when finished.
We had higher toilets put in our two bathrooms, along with grab bars where needed and possible. There are persons available who know the correct heights and angles for grab bars.
The toilet seat of which I speak was used by my spouse when he had trouble walking independently, and were removed when he entered long-term care.
