Hi fellow Seniors! I need suggestions.

Stupidly I never signed up for Medicare Part D. I have been told recently that the price of part D is very reasonable . Today I called the provider of the supplement part B and was told that I messed the deadline by 3 months.
OK, my goof.
As I age, I worry about those funny things that happen that never did before. I am now uncomfortable without part D.
Do any of you deal with a reputable Canadian pharmacy where you buy your prescriptions? I am now worried about no drug coverage and cannot sign up for part D of Medicare until next fall.

At my ripe old age, the mistake was mine and quite stupid. I live on SS alone so I guess my simple mind ignored any notice I may have received from my provider.

I would like to find a prescription provider whose prices are more reasonable than those here in the US, just in case.

If you have a recommendation, please PM me with the name of the company so I may look into it.

I admit my decision not to buy part D was financial but SS only goes so far.

If SS is cut or Medicare is cut, I am on the streets.

That may eliminate the enrollment period. I know it allows you to change providers outside of the period. Of course if you qualify for the extra help and your state expands Medicaid in accordance with ACA you might qualify for Medicaid. Medicaid allows three prescriptions per month.

3. Before I selected COSTCO pharmacy I talked to Walgreen's

It was really bizarre. If I could purchase a "membership" at $10 a year, all the drugs were going to be really cheap.

If there is a Wallgreen's in your neighborhood, try talking to them.

5. AAA has a presciption discount plan, too

I recently enrolled in it over the phone, but haven' rec'd my card yet

But then, the next year - a difference of two months, really - they told me about that membership. Was strange.

9. They do list it.

(I know you weren't talking to me but just so happens I''m enrolled in the program). Normal price for my Alburteral nebulizer mixes is just under $300.00. With the discount it was $75.00. Not all prescriptions give you a huge discount like that but it's worth checking out. If you take the list of your meds to Walgreens they'll tell you the current cost and what the cost would be with the discount.

4. Some Part D premiums are reasonable, but

there is an annual deductible.

I haven't signed up for it yet, so maybe I also missed the deadline. The only meds I am on now are covered by Medicare (chemo therapy) but that could change.....

8. If you are low income

you might be able to qualify for the Patient Assistant program provided by the drug manufacturer. I was able to do this with my Advair and was able to get 1 years worth (approx. $3600) for free.

10. Be careful.....honestly, I wish I had gone for a cheaper Part D program. I take two prescriptions.

Generic equivalent available for one (which had never worked for me)

and no generic for the second prescription. I now get to pay $54.00/mo.

to pay even higher prescription costs: I was paying 68.00 every two months

for a beta blocker. Now I pay 72.00 + Part D. I hate it that if you don't take

Part D you are penalized and if you do you can still pay more! It's a racket. I

got a better price with Walgreen's drug prescription program than Part D! So, now

I'm using that and still paying for Part D.
