Many Americans struggle to pay for utilities like air conditioning. An advocate tells @hereandnow: “We can’t have a society where 10% of the population is shut off from power. That is what could happen if we don’t have additional funding.” https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2020/06/01/air-conditioning-utility-bills

The federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program does provide some financial assistance. But there is not enough money to go around, and leaders worry the needs will only increase during the pandemic.

Here & Now's Tonya Mosley speaks with Mark Wolfe, executive director of the National Energy Assistance Directors' Association, which represents state directors who are participating in the federal assistance program."

the 6min audio is online, the transcript is not yet.

Maybe this can help some one

The audio portion I caught spoke directly about some of us on SocSec.

You can possibly keep the AC at a bit higher temp if the air inside is drier.
Even a degree or two thermostat setting can matter on your bill.
Might take a bit of the load off your AC by recirculating drier air.
