Saw a photo of co-eds at Alabama on their way to class.

REALLY short shorts.

When I was there in the late 50s, early 60s, girls could not leave the dorm in BERMUDA shorts.
They had to wear a raincoat over them just to get out of the dorm.

My, my how things have changed.

Times have changed. "Co-eds" is viewed as a sexist term. They are students. nt spooky3 Aug 2020 #1

Co-educational?
Meaning a facility that is open to both sexes?

Look, I'm still stuck at 'oriental' vs 'Asian'.
We have an old rug in the den that I was told is an 'oriental' carpet.
Is it now an Asian carpet?
It's too much for me.

sexism should not be tolerated on this site.

"The noun use is considered sexist and unprofessional by those who argue that it implies that including women somehow transforms what is "normal" (male-only "education" ) into something different ("coeducation" )."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed-sex_education

(with citations - and you can find many more if you would stop being defensive and insulting.)

still say "co-eds."

Educate yourself- language is powerful, and I think your remarks are ageist.

Trof has earned the right to occasionally use language that is dated, and not have to listen to sanctimonious shit because of a small transgression.

The next semester, they dropped any limitations on opposite sex visitation in the dorms, and they even opened a bar in the Student Union building (it was 18 to drink wine and beer then).
They were basically saying: we don't care if you get drunk and have sex, just no more TV cameras showing you fighting cops on campus.

BTW, I saw Steve Martin at that on-campus venue before anybody had ever heard of him, and also saw Linda Ronstadt there. The cost of admission was your student ID, and they had cheap beer.
