From what I've read, most people don't have major problems until the PSA is near 100. However the Gleason score 8 shows that it has potential to metastasize, meaning to spread to other areas.
Did they say if your prostate was swollen?

(3,376 posts)Also, be careful with docs that use antiquated methods (surgery, knives). This is where it can be spread. Most men die of old age WITH prostate cancer NOT from it. My father in law had numbers well over 10. Docs suggested surgery. He started taking rso and cbd regularly and 6 months ths later his numbers dropped, to 3. He is confident that they will drop more. He also dropped sugar/sweets from his diet, and dairy.

(16,953 posts)and what kind of cbd specifically? Thanks....I had a 10 something PSA, but it went down to 4.8 which the doc said was a good thing...

(3,376 posts)Highly concentrated CBD that we got from a friend. Less tha .3% thc. Counteracts the highness, so you can handle the rso. I bet diet might be enough for you to keep your numbers down and/or get them down furthwr. Prostate cancer is notorious for spreading or becoming nastier with antiquated treatments from docs. There are new less invasive treatments though, some docs are using them.

(4,981 posts)I helped him through his surgery etc.. Let me know what questions you have and I will get him to respond. What type of medical coverage do you have? I know the VA does not have the latest, cutting edge treatment available. He also had a gleason 6+8. I assume you have had the biopsy. If you want to PM me my friend will be happy to reply. There are a couple of good boards online that have some good info as well. Your treatment may be predicated on your margins. My bf had cancer close to the edge of his prostate, but did not involve the exterior of the prostate. He had the option to do radiation plus hormone therapy, but decided for removal. They have a protocol that if you have radiation w/hormones, and it does not control/eradicate the cancer, you are not eligible for surgery. But that might have changed. And I know they have a focused beam radiation that utilizes guided imagery-I think it's MRI-that is more precise, more effective, and fewer side effects. The qualification is that your gleason score must be in a certain range. 8 is on the higher side. Good luck. I am sorry you are having to deal with this. One thing I would suggest are supplements of mushrooms-specifically turkey tail, and THC oil plus CBD.

(161 posts)My friend had Robotic Prostate Surgery last year at the clinic. His surgery was successful. I'm thinking he was the 1st one to receive the new procedure. Hope this info helps. Sending prayers.
