Related: About this forumThe phone rang. Yes, Saturday morning. Hello, my name is Mark (from Mumbai
with the sounds of a boiler room in the background) and I am calling from U.S. Medicare.. I hung up.
First, unless the caller specifically is asking for a family member by name, this is a scam. Second Medicare is never referred to as U.S Medicare nor will it contact us via phone. If there is an email it would be a general one to remind us during open enrolment.
Last week, though, I was addressed by name, the caller, again from Mumbai, was from CVS about my Medicaid card. I hung up! He called again: why did you hang up on me? Dont ever call here again, I yelled. In hindsight I should have used my whistle..
That afternoon spouse answered the phone, was addressed by name and was asked for the date the Medicare card was issued!
No, no caller ID and these past few weeks, when spouse had an open heart surgery, and then in rehab and then home care, recognising phone numbers was meaningless.
Someday I may stay on the line just to see where it is leading...

IIRC when he went to India to investigate, he learned that these call center jobs were real ladder-climbers for young people, is that right? Good jobs, there, in other words.

(11,686 posts)They were telling that the delivery of my package had been changed and had some kind of email/website to go to. Knowing I had not ordered anything I did not go to what it directed me to go. I was curious. So, hating to find things like this out on line I went on to call and talk to some one.
Well, after being put on ignore to be directed to another line to also be put on ignore an hour and ten minutes later I got to talk to someone. I told her what I got and she told me it was a scam and they would never text people about anything.
With dejoyless in place who knows what is going on with USPS and that is why I called.

question everything
(48,797 posts)What bugs me is that they call on my flip cell phone that I rarely use but that the current dealer - where I serve the car - has it.
No, of course they do not provide information...

I used to keep them on the phone as long as possible by asking them to repeat, explain, clarify, repeat, etc. Sometimes lasting half-hour. I was on my computer while dealing with the phone call, so I wasn't wasting my time, just theirs. While they were on the phone with me, they weren't able to call anyone else. After awhile, I got tired of it and figured it might be risky for me after all. So I quit. But darn, they really tried their hardest to convince me. They had hope that I would fall for it. It was fun for me when I could pinpoint the exact moment it dawned on them that I was just messing with them! I justify my meaness by telling myself that it will help them see what a bad job they have and how they should quit and get a real job.
