(15,042 posts)At least it USED to. Maybe not now?
I was amazed by Germany as a kid. Germans would stare at me and my family blankly, like we were a boring TV show. At restaurants, they didn't even talk among themselves. They preferred to slowly chew their cuds and stare at us. It's not like we were loud and obnoxious either. At least they didn't look angry.

Nothing unfriendly, but a pain in the proverbial when you just want to walk around.

(12,904 posts)There were not a lot of black folks where he lived. I was with him, at a big city zoo, the first time he ever saw a black child. His mouth went wide open, and his eyes were huge. He didn't make a scene or anything, just looked amazed.
As we walked on, my sister told me that he knew some black grown-ups, but he must not have known that they came in his size. He seemed more than okay with that knowledge.
