I remember a discussion over the validity of a CA black student not wanting any white roommates

The arguments against this particular student were...

- Accusations of the black student being a "snowflake."

- Accusations of "racism" against white people.

- Accusations of practicing "segregation" against whites.

- Hypocrisy by black people.

- Sanctioned bigotry.

- Cognitive dissonance.

- No difference than white supremacy. And more.

However, one thing that has wasn't considered by many was the expectation of eventual discrimination and bigoted behavior by what could have been the student's white roommates. As I've mentioned in the discussion, for people of color, there really is no escape from white centering, white identification and white focusing in the outside world. We all live in a society that's clearly delineated by the rules of white privilege through white supremacy. As black people, we also know that such a world quite easily legitimizes violence against simply because we're black. It's the double standard. One clear example is shown in the way that law enforcement uses deadly force against unarmed black body, as it even declines to use deadly force against armed whites.

Given this, perhaps what should have been considered was that the concerns of the black student were completely valid. Especially in situations where blacks are outnumbered by whites... Whites who are not accustomed to associating with those outside of their own race, in particular.

Although the other discussion focused on a story from California, this point is clearly demonstrated by something that happened at the University of North Dakota, a place I'm sure that isn't particularly diverse:

Of course, UND is no stranger to racist behavior by students. http://indiancountrytodaymedianetwork.com/2014/05/14/super-dumb-und-its-hard-shake-racism-youve-enabled-so-long-154855 But such problems are apparent in many other college campuses as well. https://www.jbhe.com/incidents/

Racism on predominately white college campuses is a real problem. It's as real as it is in our white dominated society outside of the academic environment. Yet, in spite of all of the effort of anti-racism forces to confront this problem and draw the attention of university administrations to it, it's not going away any time soon. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/why-campus-racism-just-wont-go-away/2016/02/19/cdc30ac6-cab9-11e5-a7b2-5a2f824b02c9_story.html?utm_term=.c3ac4ad69049

Whenever whites in particular dismiss these problems, it's not very helpful at all. As a matter of fact, it's downright counter-productive.

Self-preservation is the fall back strategy when society and institutions fail to proctor justice.

But the original story referenced judging all white kids as a group.

There's a name for that.

Instead of trying to understand why people feel the way they do what matters more is the feelings of each white person.

In this instance I know who the B****es are and they are blond.
They should be criminally charged with the thief of the phone since they took it upon themselves to either attempt to break her security or too lock it up, making it unusable. In some states that could amount to grand larceny or theft.

LOCK 'EM UP! LOCK 'EM UP! LOCK 'EM UP!

At the very least throw them out of school permanently.

edit: Oh, I forgot, they're probably legacy students. Well girls will be girls.

Into my Trump supporter pile of garbage.

They are absolute garbage and have zero worth . . . to me. That's my honest opinion.

Second honest opinion - this makes me double down on my belief that a bunch of undeserving Trump supporters believe they get to move into my house and get ahold of my bank account on November 9th.

Nope fuckers -you aren't locking me out. I'm burning my house down and moving ALL of the money to Deutsch bank so go fuck yourselves.

This is what happens ^me being a vicious human being^ when they don't let up. They don't stop.

They have done it to themselves with me.

If they hadn't been acting like fuck heads since 2008 - I wouldn't have to be this way.

Deplorable pieces of shit those 'girls' are.

Now, granted, it might be that not everyone in that photo knew how it would be captioned, but the sentiment is just hideous.

Racism is alive and well; that's Exhibit A.

"Snowflakes" is the ethically convenient term used in place of "desires to avoid a consistent and immediate racism." The latter simply doesn't fit the narrative or agenda of those using it-- and would advertise their own sentiments far too accurately for the user's comfort.

Snowflakes however, efficiently and effectively minimizes and trivializes those concerns, allowing the end user to better rationalize to himself that the mere attempt to avoid racism is itself an absurd, unfounded sense of entitlement.

When I hear a person in the world or see a poster on DU using the term, it's illustrative of a dogmatic, largely incapable and undisciplined bias in their possession. But the end-user thinks he's scored a point, he's validated his bias and will tolerate nothing other than his own fictional genius.
