African American
Related: About this forumIf you are a 7 year old African-American child...
up until January, you had only known an African-American president.
How cool is that!
Maybe also for a 10 year old, who wasn't paying attention at age 3... only a black president.
There are so many of us with the older perspective of "I didn't think it would happen in my lifetime!"
But imagine the perspective of a child.
There is no "I didn't think it would happen". It's "this is how it is, and therefore, isn't it supposed to be this way?"
I am determined to ask some 5-10 year olds what they think a president is supposed to look like.

From "the age of reason" (7) until 15, that's my kid... and it's one of the many reasons I feel so much love for the Obamas.
It was a great gift, to learn of the best part of America.

and young kids are generally terrified of Trump.
This is an interesting age, as she is just learning about our racial history this year, through visits to the new African-American museum in DC, and course content in school. We live in a highly diverse area, and this is the norm she grows up with.
