....it must really feel awful to have your very humanity STOLEN from you and then denied to you and every generation of your descendants over multiple centuries, and to have every victory - however large or small - in your battle for your right to be treated like a human being worthy of basic respect and acknowledgment of your humanity - to have every gain in that struggle trigger an angry, spiteful, even violent backlash from the descendants (literally and/or ideologically, broadly speaking) of the same people who stole the basic humanity of your ancestors from them and their descendants (including you).

One of these is not like the other.
