African American
Related: About this forumto all those who
say "economic justice/parity will "solve" racism and is the major factor for white racism, I say economic parity is but one SMALL area contributing to white racism. The other LARGE problem contributing to white racism is the color of ones skin and that problem has been the major contributing factor, along with whites afraid of losing their white privilege and identity entitlement that has kept white racism as an horrendous tool of the white supremacist since the lynching of James Crawford a well to do farmer in the post slavery 'emancipation' period of the 'north-south' civil war. Oh, Mr. Crawford? He got in an argument with a white store owner over price gouging because he was a black person.
The money an African-american has pales to non-existence when white person sees a black person, especially if that white person is racist. The African-american in their eyes is immediately an 'other' and usually seen as a n*****. Yes, even a first class POTUS we had before this trash that now calls himself potus. Period. No ifs, and's or buts about this fact. A POC driving an expensive car will be pulled over, a white person will not. Period. Just one small true example. That AA can be a CEO, a major face from television, a major newsperson, even one of the protect and serve people off duty, a white racist cop having a bad day or not, makes no difference, will immediately make a judgement. Ask Oprah about her shopping spree in Switzerland. That point is obvious.
Fuck economic parity when I want human right parity. That's what I say when it comes to the proponents of economic parity being the major solution to white racism in ameriKKKa and at last count there are at least 66 million of them in this country alone.

(13,425 posts)That is exactly backwards.
If there was equal treatment under the law, economic parity would no be an issue.

(18,124 posts)they have been ass backwards from the very beginning and remain so. A new one just arrived on DU...same story, nothing new.

(18,124 posts)in the The Atlantic. I have referred people to him and his writing. Ta-Nehisi Paul Coates in one of the premiere thinkers/writers of our time. 'First White President'. Truly white, truly racist. And the negation of Obama's legacy? Just because this racist pig, of the ameriKKKans potus, thinks he can negate the memory or legacy just because he hates the fact that Barack Hussein Obama is a better man and a far more competent and intelligent POTUS than he will EVER be as a man, he can't. I can't wait for this trash of a potus to have a legacy, if he ever has one.

(18,124 posts)of the obfuscation. This lie has been told since communism and socialism took hold in ameriKKKa. Hasn't done a damn bit of good really, except maybe bring a certain awareness to the problems created by white racism and drams of supremacy.. But like somone else said in this thread, ain't done nothing but perpetuate separate but equal BS, for generations now.

(87,490 posts)Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible.

These rights are inherent for us all. No matter our race, color, sex, religion or sexuality. These are our human rights.

(87,490 posts)"economic parity" will not make me any more equal than it will make a black woman or man equal. No minority will ever be equal.
I will not get shot in my car, I am white and privileged...yet I will never be equal.
Speaking for me, as a woman, it took us 72 years for the right to vote and in 2017 men are regulating what we should be paid and telling us that they alone make the decisions over our bodies. They don't use birth control and never needed an abortion so why the hell should THEY pay for it? Well you Boys...we don't use Viagra so why the hell should we be paying for your hard pricks that may result in a pregnancy that you refuse to cover.
Here they are...
Fuck them all.
Rant Off. OT. Sorry.

(8,581 posts)No one in their right mind would think economic parity will fix racism. I will admit I'm white and don't have the experiences, but I have eyes and can see what goes on. Racism isn't about money although sometimes money plays into it (like refusal to consider a black applicant for a job).

(8,581 posts)but they obviously have no conception of what racism really is. Or maybe they just don't care.

(404 posts)Several factors will have to occur for this to happen. 100% death tax for all estates over $250,000 for starters except for people of color; banning private corporate boards in place of mandatory community boards for corporations, mandatory race quotas, and finally, a complete divestment of white privilege in all arenas: academic, financial, political, and recreational theaters. Remember, all Western wealth is built on the backs of unpaid slaves of color, and must be properly corrected before we see ANY semblance of true parity, economic and otherwise.
